Awareness examines the actions we are taking to increase our environmental and sustainability efforts and how often we change this in order to keep up with industry knowledge and standards. 

Sustainability is one of the key Club focus areas with the aim to ‘continue our journey of responsible actions to improve our environmental and social impact. We also ensure every member of staff takes part in the Club's introduction to Sustainability to raise awareness and understanding.

Our Club Campsites also provide awareness through their information rooms. 

Community looks at how the Club works towards achieving a more sustainable world through community support and collaboration

Our Club campsites really got involved this year with lots of different sustainability projects, from tree planting, growing a wild meadow, installing bird boxes and bug hotels, waste reduction projects, raising money for local charities, collecting second-hand clothing for local charities, promoting local business, hosting local food vendors and donating a percentage of the money raised in the shop to the local community.

We have partnered with Bank the Food to help local foodbanks across the UK.

Health and wellbeing looks at all the ways the Club creates a clean, safe and healthy environment for staff, volunteers, members and visitors that positively impacts their physical and mental health. 

Some of the ways we do this is with health and wellbeing initiatives for staff as well as an allowance to spend on things that would improve general health. We also create a good, clean and safe working environment for all staff and volunteers.

Recently we have trialled 'happy to chat' benches, which encourage site guests to take some time out and have a chat with others on site.

Equality, diversity & inclusivity focuses on the work we all do to ensure the Club is as equal and inclusive as possible.

We take every step to ensure everyone feels welcome to join and belong to our Club and to create an environment where diversity and inclusion is so ingrained in our culture that it is organic and part of the Club’s day-to-day life. 

The Club has an equality, diversity and inclusivity working group and steering group to act as champions across the Club. 

The Club also recognises the Hidden Disabilities sunflower. 

Experiences focuses on how the Club works to create, support and promote sustainable experiences, meetings and events for our members.

The Club's site network offers a wide range of uniquely local experiences, for example Southport Club Campsite provides information and maps to guide members to the National Trust's Red Squirrel Walk in the woodland at nearby Formby.

The Club has negotiated discounts for members at hundreds of local attractions and experiences close to Club campsites, ensuring our members pay less for local experiences through our Great Savings Guide.

The Travel section investigates how we work to mitigate and reduce the environmental impact of the travel associated with the Club.

Morvich Club Campsite, for example, has created a Go Green sign to promote using public transport while staying on our Club campsite.

Head office has started a car sharing scheme after a staff member sent the idea into the staff suggestion scheme.

The Food and Drink section looks at how we work to ensure that the food and drink that our members and guests purchase when staying on our Club campsites is sustainable, responsible and is ethically sourced, as well as how we try to ensure that the dietary needs of our members and guests are met.

Carnon Downs Blub Campsite has several food vans which visit the site each week. They also hold a weekly Pint and Pasty night where they bake locally made pasties and serve this with Cornish beer. They also promote food events on local Facebook pages and the site shop only stocks local Cornish produce. Moreton-in-Marsh Club Campsite also sells local honey. 

Hillhead Club campsite has an on-site restaurant which sells locally sourced fish from Brixham and has a catch of the day which is advertised and promoted in the restaurant by the chefs. 

Biodiversity considers all the work that we as a Club do, to not only support the flora and fauna at our Club Campsites as well as across the local community but also how much we limit the impact of biodiversity loss further afield through supply chain management and other initiatives.

Multiple numbers of our Club campsites around the network, including Knaresborough Club Campsite, have utilised the new 'No-mow' signs to create wildlife havens and refuges.

The Waste section explores how the Club works to monitor, manage and reduce our waste streams.

We are working with our waste management company to understand new and improved ways of working and reducing our overall waste volumes.

We are also trialling centralised bin points, and promote upcycling items that cannot be recycled or used again. 

The Water section focuses on what the Club is doing for physical and behavioural measures that we have put in place to ensure monitoring, managing and conserving water throughout the Club's sites network.

The Club is currently trialling water saving technology at Black Knowl Club Campsite and Tewkesbury Abbey Club Campsite.

The Club is also trialling fresh water harvesting with water butts to use wasted water.

The Chemicals section looks at the steps the Club has taken to ensure the products we use and the practices that we have in place are as sustainable as possible.

Across the whole Club site network, we are committed to offering only green toilet chemicals in the site shops to lessen the risk of environmental impact and ask that visitors do not use any products that contain formaldehyde on our sites. 

Our trial of a new range of eco-cleaning products has been successful and we are starting to roll it out to more club campsites on the network. As well as eco-cleaning products the Club is also trialing different approaches to weed control to reduce the amount of chemicals used on sites.

The Carbon section examines the steps that we take to manage our carbon emissions, as well as any work we have done to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

In our head office, the Finance team includes carbon reporting in the Club's annual financial report; we are also working on baselining and setting targets.
