Why stay here ...

This is a small intimate site situated on the edge of the picture’s village of Hawkshead. A slightly sloping site with fantastic views. Excellent for all levels of walking. The village is well equipped with amenities, where there are three pubs and two restaurants all serving food. Two village shops, a co-op and a deli. We have a chemist and Dr surgery in the village also numerous café and gift shops.

Attractions within the village are Wordsworth Grammar School. The award winning Hawkshead Relish Company. A Chocolate factory. St Michaels all Angel’s church. A Recreation ground with children’s play area, tennis courts and crown green bowling.

Walking into the village by road would take approximately five to ten minutes, by footpath via fields ten to fifteen minutes.

There is a bus service that passes the bottom of the drive giving access to most of the lake district, day passes are available. The main stop is in the centre of Hawkshead.

Within a five-mile radius there is Beatrix Potter’s house (Hill Top). John Ruskin house. The Ruskin Museum where Donal Cambel Record breaking boat Bluebird lives, both in Coniston. Gondola at Coniston. Windermere lake cruises. Grizedale forest activity centre, go ape. Wray Castle. Brockhall activity centre. Access to wainwrights walking, also close to the famous Tarn How’s. Trout Farm. We are on a National Cycle network. Plus, many more attraction within the area.
There are many Village events, Hawkshead agricultural show. Bonfire night. Christmas fair weekend. Summer music festivals in the church.

Electricity supply is 16amp but unfortunately is unable to cope with the charging of electric cars or bikes, the nearest charging point is at the main car park in Hawkshead.

Dogs are welcome on the site and there are plenty of footpaths in the area for dog walking opportunities, but they must be kept under control, for the benefit of other members and we are a working farm. Please abide by the countryside code.

At certain times of the year, we may ask you to park your car on hard ground or opposite to your van to try and preserve the site for everyone. And only use a ground sheet if necessary.

On site we have electric hook ups 16amp. Waste disposal point. Grey water disposal point. Two water points. TV booster and cables. We encourage recycling and the use of organic toilet fluid. We are adjacent to a working farm.
